This Cookie Policy explains how the euroriie website (https://euroriie.com/), operated by Myndaris OÜ, uses cookies and similar technologies, and the choices you have. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal data more generally.

1. What cookies and similar technologies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device, so that information can be read back on a later visit. Websites also use other client-side storage that works in a comparable way, including the browser's localStorage and sessionStorage, as well as techniques such as pixels, tags and software development kits. In this policy we use "cookies and similar technologies" to cover all of them.

The relevant technology on this site is localStorage. It lets the site keep a small, first-party record in your own browser. Unlike a cookie, a localStorage entry is not automatically sent to any server with each request; it stays in your browser until it is updated or cleared. We explain below exactly what we keep there.

Storing information on, or reading information from, your device is governed by Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC. Where that storage also involves personal data, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies as well.

3. What this site stores today

At launch, this website sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics, advertising or other third-party trackers. The only information stored on your device is a strictly necessary preference record, kept in your browser's localStorage. The table below lists everything we store.

Both items are first-party, stay in your browser, and are not shared with anyone. We do not set analytics cookies, advertising cookies, social-media cookies or any third-party cookies at present. If this changes, we will update this policy and, before any such technology is activated, ask for your consent as described in section 5.

4. Strictly necessary storage

The two items above are strictly necessary: they exist only to deliver a function you have implicitly asked for — to record and respect your own storage choice and to avoid repeating a notice you have already seen. Storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service the user has requested is exempt from the consent requirement under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC. Guidance from the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon, AKI) is consistent with this approach.

Two different legal references may appear for these items, and they are not in conflict: the act of storing them on your device is exempt from consent under Article 5(3) ePrivacy (above), while any limited processing of the resulting data under the GDPR rests on our legitimate interest in a working, standards-compliant site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Neither requires your consent.

Because these items are exempt, storing them is not based on your consent — asking for consent to remember your consent choice would be circular. They are also not a basis for us to build a profile of you or to track you across sites; they do exactly what is described in the table and nothing more. You can still remove them at any time using your browser controls (section 7); if you do, the site will simply ask for your choice or show its notice again.

5. If we add analytics or advertising cookies

We are not using them today, but this section explains what would happen if we later introduced analytics or advertising technologies — including the Meta Pixel — so there are no surprises.

  • Any such cookie or tracker would be off by default. It would not load, and no data would be collected through it, until you have given prior opt-in consent.
  • Consent would be requested through a granular, two-level banner. The first level offers equally weighted "Accept all cookies" and "Reject non-essential" options; the second level lets you choose by category (for example, analytics and advertising separately). Rejecting is as easy as accepting.
  • The legal basis for setting and reading non-essential cookies or trackers would be your consent — Article 6(1)(a) GDPR together with the prior-consent rule in Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive. We would not rely on legitimate interest to place trackers on your device.
  • Advertising technologies such as the Meta Pixel involve sharing data with third parties — for the Meta Pixel, Meta Platforms (Meta Platforms Ireland Limited and Meta Platforms, Inc.) — and an international transfer of personal data to the United States, carried out under the safeguards required by Chapter V of the GDPR.
  • You would be able to withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it, by reopening the preferences panel from the footer. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before it.

Until any of this is actually activated, the descriptions above are forward-looking only. This policy will be updated with the concrete details of any technology before it goes live.

6. Managing your preferences

Because the site currently uses only strictly necessary storage, you will see an informational notice rather than a consent request. The notice simply tells you that technically necessary browser storage is in use and links to this policy; dismissing it records the euroriie.storage-notice-ack item described above.

If and when non-essential cookies are introduced, the informational notice is replaced by the consent banner, and you will be able to accept, reject, or choose by category, and to reopen your choices at any time from the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer or the button below.

7. Browser controls

Independently of the choices on this site, you can view and delete cookies and localStorage, and block or limit them, through your browser settings. The exact steps depend on your browser:

  • Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies, and Settings → Privacy and security → Clear browsing data.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
  • Apple Safari: Settings (Preferences) → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data.

Browser controls are complementary to the choices offered on this site. Clearing storage in your browser will also remove the strictly necessary items listed in section 3, so the site's notice or preferences prompt may appear again on your next visit.

8. Your rights and more information

Where cookies or similar technologies involve the processing of your personal data, you have the rights set out in Articles 15 to 22 of the GDPR — including the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and to object. If you believe your data protection rights have been infringed, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon), Tatari 39, 10134 Tallinn, Estonia — www.aki.ee. You may also contact the supervisory authority in your country of residence.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the technologies we use, or in legal or regulatory requirements. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we introduce cookies or trackers that require consent, we will do so through the consent mechanism described in section 5 before they become active.
